The Guy Behind That ‘Damn Daniel’ Meme Just Had A SWAT Team Called To His House

Welcome to internet fame, ‘Damn, Daniel’ and friends! One day you’re riding high, feeling the love from social media, and pulling all the fly honeys in second-period English with your swag, and the next a SWAT team’s surrounding your house demanding you come out unarmed and with your white Vans on.

TMZ reports that the creator of the ‘Damn, Daniel’ meme has learned the hard way that the internet giveth and that it taketh away. Last night, it tooketh away (yes, that’s a word, autocorrect) when the home of the meme’s creator was surrounded by cops after receiving a report that the teen shot his mom in the head with an AK-47. Of course, the call was a prank and police arrived to find no one hurt or even aware that anything had happened at the Riverside, California, residence. But since the incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m., it’s probably safe to say that everyone inside was a little shaken up.

Is this the work of mastermind hackers or just kids at school fed up with the fame and fortune of Daniel and Co.? Maybe some other Daniels that just hate the meme so much they want to end it immediately?  According to TMZ, police have no suspects and it’s unlikely any arrests will be made. Kind of hope that at least one cop at the scene — recognizing where he was — just slurred out a “daaaaaaaaamn” for good measure while the house was being searched, but considering that policing is serious business, they probably waited to do that until later.

Photoshoppers Had A Field Day With This Image Of A Sleeping Kanye West

With all that ranting and raving Kanye West does it has to be pretty exhausting being him. I mean, I only have to listen to the guy or read his tweets and I’m ready to crash (my head through a wall). Throw in a toddler, a newborn, a new album, a new clothing line and it’s no wonder ‘Ye fell blissfully asleep while out baby shopping the other day.

“So today we went baby shopping with @johnlegend & @chrissyteigen. Kanye & North were a little too quiet. We found them passed out in the middle of the store,” was the caption Kim Kardashian left on a quick Instagram snap of Kanye completely knocked out. The picture opened up the doors for creative Photoshoppers to cut and paste Kanye in everything from dinosaur exhibits to the wild, wild west to even Jesus’ time for the birth of Yeezus.

And while Kanye’s begging Mark Zuckerberg to invest $1 billion in his Walt Disney-level ideas, in the world of Photoshop magic, Kanye and Mark are already bros.

Another Redditor Photoshopped the rapper sleeping while at a meeting with the Facebook CEO. Kanye’s also asleep for his meeting with Pope Francis. My guess is he didn’t want to hear the Pope’s thoughts on calling himself 50 percent more influential than Paul the Apostle.

Here are some others. DreamWorks is my favorite.

‘Damn, Daniel’ Ends Up On ‘Ellen,’ Gets Lifetime Supply Of White Vans And Looks Terrified The Entire Time

14-year-old Daniel Lara has finally done it: Within one week of becoming a meme, he’s been invited on Ellen to talk about the inexplicable popularity of “Damn Daniel” and receive the cash and prizes that come along with fleeting internet fame before disappearing forever. Along with his partner in crime–Josh, the guy who made the video and recently had his house swatted for his efforts — Daniel appeared on the show to discuss his signature style, the marriage proposals he’s getting, and exactly how his life has changed since he became the best-known Daniel since the one that played Harry Potter.

What’s best about this video, besides the fact that Josh gets a cheesy surfboard while Daniel’s hooked up with a lifetime supply of white Vans he’ll be rocking well into middle age — still telling his kids stories about how he never has to pay for shoes again because that internet is a wild and crazy place — is how incredibly terrified Daniel looks the entire time he’s being questioned about his newfound stardom. It’s a little uncomfortable to watch (especially when he sniffs the air the entire time like he’s dying of the world’s worst allergies), but it’s also kind of funny to see a viral sensation realize the exact moment he’s kind of done with the fame and fortune that comes along with being an internet celeb.

What’s that thing Andy Warhol said about everyone having their 15 minutes? Don’t worry, Daniel, your time is almost up.

The Crying Jordan Meme Finally Gets The Documentary It Deserves

$

The Crying Jordan meme is inescapable and undeniable. It is deployed to troll the loser of nearly every major sporting event, and has been for months now. And finally, the folks over at STASHED have given it the documentary treatment it deserves.

No, it’s not a deep dive into the origin and nature of the meme. No one needs that, and memes never deserve such lofty ambitions. Instead, STASHED went to All-Star weekend in Toronto and asked a bunch of NBA players what they thought of it, which resulted in mostly giggles and head shakes.

Seems about right.

Easily the best part of the video is the documentarians talking to Kawhi Leonard. First, they ask him what he thinks of when he sees the picture of MJ crying at his Hall-of-Fame induction ceremony, and he correctly associates it with the pinnacle of achievement. The filmmaker patiently explains to Kawhi that no, in fact seeing that face means you’ve probably done something bad and are being made to feel bad. This upsets Kawhi, who has neither Twitter nor Instagram and is the heir apparent to Tim Duncan not just as the marquee star for the Spurs, but as the most boring superstar in the NBA.

All the more reason for us to unabashedly love him.

‘If Young Metro Don’t Trust You,’ The Internet Will Get Hilarious Memes Out Of It

“Metro Boomin’ want some more” was already a catchy enough drop for Metro Boomin, but things have kicked into an entirely new gear for the Atlanta producer ever since his latest track intro debuted back on Future and Drake’s “Jumpman” hit. But “If Young Metro don’t trust you” officially peaked the moment it played during Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” as seen above, and the phrase has since gone viral in hilarious fashion. From people losing their minds at the drop, to warnings about what people will do if Metro don’t trust you, it’s the producer drop that just keeps giving.

It finally happened! On Sunday night, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant. So ends one of the longest losing streaks in the history of mankind and, of course, people were ready to celebrate. Black Twitter was especially prepared for the moment, recognizing Leo with a special hashtag: #WhitePeopleInvitedToTheCookout.

What started as a way to rep for the coolest white dude in Hollywood ended up being a tribute to so many, many other Caucasians that we would invite to a barbecue, a sacred place full of tradition in the black community.

Kip will be in the building with Lafawnduh.

Bernie Sanders? Of course!

Chaz most definitely gets an invite.

Spooky Black is approved.

Bob Saget will be up in the spot.

Dirk will be there in full regalia.

There were so many honorary brothers and sisters who were invited.

Tyga Called Tupac His Dad And The Internet Reacted Accordingly

Of all the rappers that the internet vehemently hates, Tyga is easily at the top of the list. For all the flack the Wales and J. Coles of the world get online, it all pales in comparison to the atomic minefield that is Tyga’s Twitter mentions and Instagram comments. Everything from his lacking skills as a rapper to his baby momma drama and his dating choices is constantly an excuse to roast T-Raww.

Well, buddy fanned the flames late Sunday night when he decided to declare Tupac his “Dad” on Instagram because he was rocking the same Duke jersey ‘Pac wore in a picture from decades ago. I’m sure he was just using a popular internet trope, wherein calling someone your dad is just a show of affection for them. But, because rap fans love Tupac’s music and hate all things Tyga, the mob in Tyga’s mentions set his timeline ablaze.

UFC 196 was a roller coaster of an event. Both Holly Holm and Conor McGregor looked strong early into their fights, only to eventually fall to their underdog opponents — Miesha Tate and Nate Diaz respectively. And you know what happens when heavy favorites bite the dust: the jokers and haters come out of the woodwork and make memes about their losses.

It’s all in good fun, though. Conor and Holly are true warriors who are gonna bounce back from this adversity and continue to make the big bucks fighting in front of millions around the world. So, allow yourself to get a laugh or five out of these great memes that came out of UFC 196…

lulz-ufc196-3

An accurate description of the women’s bantamweight championship situation right now. Will one of these fighters be able to break the cycle?

It could take hours for all the people to switch hype trains. We haven’t seen things this backed up since Holly Holm kicked Ronda Rousey’s head off.

Instagram Photo

Oof. Don’t worry, Conor. Most fight fans won’t judge you on a single ground pounding delivered by one of the best jiu jitsu players in the game, and while you were knocked silly to boot.

Yeah, I know you’re sick of Sad Jordan. Which is why we picked only the best SJ for this post. Both Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor have fallen since being put on the cover of EA Sports UFC 2, keeping the creepy EA Sports cover curse alive and well.

Nate Diaz capping Conor’s movement coach Ido Portal, head coach John Kavanagh, and of course Conor McGregor himself.

An accurate summary of UFC 196. Except Nate Diaz isn’t Batman. Or is he?

Always be Batman. Unless you can be Nate Diaz slapping Justin Bieber. Then be Nate Diaz slapping Justin Bieber.

Kron must be a proud jiu jitsu daddy after watching his student cut through McGregor on the ground like a hot knife through butter.

Here’s Sad Dana thinking about all the hard knocks his stars have taken over the past few months. If only the UFC protected its stars like certain other promotions…

Instagram Photo

“He makes gang signs with the right hand and animal balloons with the left hand.” — Conor McGregor, before he got murked.

Just another reminder that all men must die. It’s easy to make a parallel between McGregor vs. Nate and the Mountain vs. the Viper from Game of Thrones. Conor boxed Nate up for 90 percent of the fight, and then got his face smashed and his throat crushed. The show’s filmed in Ireland, Conor! You should have known what happens when smaller guys face bigger opponents.

‘Hey, Donnelly’ Is The New ‘Damn, Daniel’ And None Of This Silliness Makes Any Sense

2016 is coming hard and fast with the viral sensations. Only days after all the Daniels of the world stopped cowering in their homes and have finally wandered outside to enjoy the fresh air (and no screams of delight about their chosen footwear), we’ve got a new viral hero ready to take his place. His name is Donnelly, and he’s an “army bro” who’s currently stationed in Hawaii. We don’t know much about him yet (expect him on Ellen soon), but what we do know is that he seems like a fun-loving dude who likes to eat, drink…and dig holes on the beach. Sounds like a super fun guy.

The conceit of this particular series of videos — which may or may not be a direct response to the ‘Damn, Daniel’ craze — is that Donnelly’s friend asks him what they’re doing, Donnelly responds, and then his friend says “okay.” That’s it. And even though it shouldn’t be, it’s hilarious. And let’s be real, it will also likely go viral.

Here’s hoping Donnelly, who’s a military man with experience in both hanging out and putting up tents has an easier time putting up with his fleeting fame and fortune than Daniel Lara did. I just want to know what exactly Ellen’s going to give him when he shows up on her show. Bro Bible suggests spam or mai-tais, but “just hella money” might also be nice?

Angry Woman Riding ‘Splash Mountain’ Might Be The New Best Meme Of All Time

$

0

Bad Luck Brian, Success Kid, Overly Attached Girlfriend: These are all memes you know and (potentially) love. They, like Scumbag Steve, Good Guy Greg, and ERMAHGERD girl (hey, books are awesome!) have ascended to a plane that’s somewhere between human and spiritual, a place in which they’ll always be both ridiculed and admired by thousands on a daily basis. About to join them? This very angry woman having the time of her whole life on Splash Mountain, one of the most terrifying experiences you could ever subject a human to (and surprisingly still considered a “ride” and not an “enhanced interrogation technique”).

Posted by Imgur user Blackthorne519, the story behind the legend is quite simple. This women went to Disney World with her husband, got in line for Splash Mountain, and learned that her partner would (very wisely) not be joining her because being serenaded by animatronic animals and then thrown down an almost vertical hill isn’t as much fun as I’m making it sound. It’s not like she was going to waste her ride, though. So, instead of not going, this woman mustered up all her courage, suffered through the line and the seven minutes of song-and-dance in a damp and enclosed space (you ever notice the smell in there? perfect place to hide a body… if you needed to hide a body at Disney World), and then made the above face as she was coming down the final drop.

Behold her face in all its glory:

splash2

Imgur

There are several reasons to commend Blackthorne519’s wife for this amazing shot. First of all, she must have come up with it while riding, meaning she spent the time she could have sang along to that song about bluebirds and shoulders deciding exactly how she was going to punish her husband. Second of all, she made a choice and committed to it. But most importantly, she actually stuck it out through the drop, documenting her unhappiness for eternity — perfect for evidence in a potential divorce trial — as she slid down 50 feet of slick-smooth track into a giant puddle below. Have you tried to make a photo like this happen? I’ve been on Splash Mountain once (it was enough) and I thought I’d stick a thumb out and smile when it came time for the photo, but instead there’s a picture somewhere of me accidentally strangling the guy in front of me with one hand while I slap myself in the face with the other (I did not buy the photo). To actually have the resolve to make the picture above happen? Major respect.

There’s no word on whether Blackthorne519 made his unwillingness to ride (again: very smart) up to his wife later in the day — by going on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad five times perhaps? — but he’s certainly going to have even more to answer to when she finds out that she’s become the human embodiment of Grumpy Cat (except less drugged) to the delight of the world wide interwebs. We love you, Grumpy Splash Mountain lady! We love you and we salute you!

#MemeHistory Is How You Wished Teachers Taught History In School

As technology continues advancing, students are learning new ways to obtain, process and digest information. Back in the olden days, doing a report meant flipping through pages and pages of Encyclopedia Britannica (RIP). Then there was Microsoft Encarta, which was cool, but it definitely doesn’t stand up against Wikipedia and Google. On top of the aforementioned is now #MemeHistory to help hilariously explain notable events throughout history.

It all started when @TylerIAm accurately tweeted on Thursday, “Making powerpoints would be so great now with all the memes out.” The tweet led to others chiming in with memes and captions perfectly illustrating historical events from biblical times to revolutions to presidential assassinations and every single damn thing in between. And just like that, learning about that time Kennedy tried and failed to invade Cuba or when Paul Revere found out the British were coming was made easily digestible.

Between #MemeHistory, that one student who used Trey Songz to explain electronegativity, and that teacher who gave students a quiz on Chief Keef, don’t you wish learning was this lit when you were in school?

#CallEnded Is Your Latest Highly Relatable Meme

Yeah, Twitter’s back at it again with the memes. Not sure who started #CallEnded, but it doesn’t matter because the level of accuracy with some of these captions is too on-point not to share. Who hasn’t ended a call when asked to come into work on your day off? Or when ducking debt collectors? Or when a friend hits you up with an “amazing business opportunity,” or wants to “borrow some money real quick”? Let he who has not accidentally answered an unwanted call and hung up abrupt as f**k cast the first stone. Everyone else should just scroll down, take in these moments described and nod/laugh in agreement.

This Vincent Van Gogh Lookalike Can’t Shake Internet Fame

Vincent Van Gogh may have died in in 1890, but his lookalike lives on. This doppelganger, however, has both his ears, and a septum piercing. And because it’s 2016, someone discovered the resemblance, posted a picture on the Internet, and now Robert Reynolds is a meme.

According to BuzzFeed, back in April of last year, a Reddit user took a “creepshot” of Van Gogh/Reynolds on the New York subway. The shot quickly went viral on Reddit and other platforms:

Reynolds, who is an actor, capitalized on the attention. He posed for photos with a bandaged ear, and even starred in a web series as Van Gogh in contemporary New York. In this one, Van Gogh’s picture goes viral when someone mistakes him for Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

As with most memes, interest in this one died down, until someone accosted Reynolds in March at Starbucks, asking him if he knew he was Internet famous.

Anyway, here are some Instagram photos of Reynolds, if you were ever curious to see what Van Gogh might look like with a slight hipster vibe.

Being a parent is hard work. No one disputes this. But perhaps nothing until now has so succinctly captured the trials and tribulations of parenthood as well as this Instagram page #KidsAreTheWorst, which lets parents submit their own exasperating photos with the ease of a hashtag. For those who are already parents, it’s a great way to commiserate, and for the rest of us… Well, it just goes to show how easy we have it.

In other words, for childless couples and single adults, these photos are basically the Condescending Wonka meme of, “Oh really? Tell me again about how you had to clean up cat barf this morning.” Here are some of the best examples. Laugh because it’s not you or cringe remembering when it was.

That Angry Splash Mountain Lady Finally Reveals The Story That Led Her Viral Stardom

You’ve lost sleep over it. It’s consumed you. I mean, how in the world could that woman have been so cross while riding Splash Mountain? Doesn’t she know she was at Disney World?? Doesn’t she know how fun it is???

Well now you can take it easy because she’s spoken out and put all our concerns to rest. Her name is Jordan Alexander and you’ll be more than relieved to know that according to Us Magazine, she “doesn’t take things too seriously.” Thank heavens.

It seems Jordan was a little perturbed that her husband Steven left her to ride the waves of the mountain by herself at the last second. So, to prove that she will not be left alone on a flume without proper warning, Jordan, a resident of Syracuse, made her best annoyed face to get a jab in at her missing spouse.

“By the time I was on the ride, I had calmed down [after being annoyed by Steven’s refusal to ride Splash Mountain], but I did know that I wanted to remember this. I wanted to look grumpy. So I saw the flash and I looked over and I had no idea if I was still making the face. … But once I got off the ride, I saw the photo and I knew he was going to die seeing it.”

How could Jordan have known that her little inside joke at Steven’s expense would go viral, resulting in 4 million Imgur views and one meme after another? That she’d become… “Angry Splash Mountain Lady?”

Well, she didn’t but at least she’s finally told the world about it now. Because where would we all be in this crazy life without people like Jordan Alexander and her philosophy to “keep a sense of humor about it all?”

Nowhere good, I tell you. Nowhere good at all. And it can be a lot worse:

Ayesha Curry Found Herself At The Center Of An Internet Meme Thanks To Her New Cooking Show

Have you heard? Ayesha Curry, wife of NBA MVP Stephen Curry, is apparently the ideal woman according to the Internet. She cooks, upholds the sanctity of her marriage at all costs and maintains decency in an Internet world of indecency. Thursday, it was announced that Ayesha’s talents in the kitchen have earned her a cooking show on The Food Network, and we saw fit to post the news with the above picture. Well, apparently we spawned something amazing because the Internet did what the Internet does – they made a meme out of it.

It doesn’t make any sense, none of us really know Ayesha but since when do things on the Internet need to make sense? So here we are, our perception of Mrs. Curry on a never-ending crusade for decency and slaying all women who dare to show a little skin or *gasp* have sex out of wedlock. This, of course, is not the first time Ayesha and her likeness has been smack dab in the middle of the debate online about what is/isn’t decent. Remember she admonished women everywhere for “barely wearing clothes these days” and caused an uproar.

Truth is, once you stop being so uptight, the jokes are actually hilarious. Add that to the face Ayesha is making and we end up with Internet gold.

That’s it for the final Walking Lulz of the season! I know, it seems like just yesterday that season six started, and now we’ve gotta wait several months for more. Someone Managed To Take Smash Mouth’s ‘All Star’ To Nightmarish Levels By Mangling The Tempo

$

Smash Mouth is in the news? Did we mysteriously get sent back to 1999 when their song “All Star” was practically unavoidable? Nope, it’s still 2016 and thanks to Youtuber CoolStoryCory the track from the Ben Stiller flick, Mystery Men and the hit single off of Smash Mouth’s Astro Lounge is now worse than the original.

How could this be possible? Well, every single instrument on the track has been manipulated to be playing at a slightly different tempo causing a cacophony of disjointed noise that is the equivalent of listening to a dozen elementary school bands playing the same song but only a fraction of a second apart. We know President Obama is closing Gitmo, but hearing this on a loop would cause any terrorist to start speaking ASAP. It’s painful to listen to and we think this version of “All Star” is going to be used as a new challenge for people online to test their mental strength. And like every meme, there will be a dozen copycats. If you think listening to the twisted version of “All Star” is bad, get ready for Limp Bizkit’s “Nookie” to go off tempo.

Smash Mouth made news last year when the band’s lead singer flipped out on the crowd at the Taste of Fort Collins music festival during a performance of, you guessed it, “All Star.”

This Questionable Web Video Was Rightfully Mocked With #RealBlackPeopleQuestions

$

A Buzzfeed video currently has all of Black Twitter giving the media publisher a giant side-eye. Why? Because it features black people wondering things like why black people place more importance on dance trends than they do politics or entrepreneurship.

The video is called “27 Questions Black People Have For Other Black People” and, per some Twitter users, it’s problematic because many of the questions are based on black stereotypes and myths. One question asked, “How did watermelon become our thing?” was met with a Dave Chappelle “You motherf*ckers disgust me” gif. Another commented, “We like watermelon as much as anyone else, but White people propagated the myth that we love it way more via mainstream media.” Taking offense with the viral vid, one Twitter user wrote, “[The] Buzzfeed video is literally reaffirming every stereotype made about black people.” Others wonder if questions were written by curious white people looking for answers to questions they’ve probably had about black people. Another user remarked, “[That video] has black people ask white people questions written by white people to start drama.”

Some thought the video asked valid questions.

Still, “27 Questions” ended up birthing #RealBlackPeopleQuestions, with social-media users mocking the video with questions frequently heard in the black community and in songs.
